… This manual does not have the presumption of explaining or solving technical and didactic problems through articulated theorems but it is a collection of notes and experiences that I think can help saxophonists to face the course of study and therefore the stage with more serenity and awareness.
In the first pages I deal clearly and concisely with the important aspects relating to the setting, breathing, organization of the study, etc., in order to allow the student an approach to the instrument that is as natural, easy and profitable as possible.
… Given the aforementioned expressive versatility of the saxophone, I also considered it important to include some elements belonging to avant-garde musical languages such as over-treble, quarter tones, scales and arpeggios among those most used in different musical genres.
I thank Roberto Genova who edited the appendix by studying the main works of the Italian repertoire, also referring to the website www.ilsaxofonoitaliano.it by Fabio Sammarco, a very important resource aimed at the enhancement and dissemination of Italian compositions, authors and artists.
I created the Manual thinking mainly of the students of the Music High Schools, Pre-Academic and Bachelor’s Degree courses of the Conservatories.
